Marc Watt follows in Steven Young footsteps

Inverallochy player wins PLF Scottish

schoolboys' title at Murrayshall

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Marc Watt, from the same Inverallochy Golf Club near Fraserburgh that produced Walker Cup player Steven Young, followed in the latter's footsteps today (Monday) by winning the Paul Lawrie Foundation Scottish Schoolboys 36-hole golf championship over the Murrayshall Hotel course, near Perth.
Watt, pictured, had rounds of 69 and 76 for a total of one-under-par 145 over the par-73 parkland lay-out.
He won by three shots from Graeme Greer (Carluke) 74-74 and Connor Wilson (Dunbar) 76 72.
Defending champion Darren Howie (Peebles) tied for sixth place on 150 with rounds of 75 and 73.
Watt shared the halfway lead on four-under 69 with Greg Dalziel (Airdrie).
In more difficult conditions with the wind rising, Dalziel was blown away to an 86 second time round but Watt hung to his advantage with an inward 35 in the afternoon for a 76.
In the first round Watt looked a class performer with one eagle 3, six birdies and four bogeys for a four-under 69.
