Irishman beats Sandy Scott by a shot to win St

Andrews Links Trophy

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Sandy Scott was pipped by Irishman Conor O'Rourke for what would have been the biggest win of his fledgling golf career.
The 17-year-old Nairn member finished with a 71 for 11-under-par 276 in the St Andrews Links Trophy won by a single shot by his rival from Naas who posted a final round of 70 for 275.
Scott bogeyed the 17th (Road Hole) on the Old Course in the third and fourth rounds. His slip in the final round allowed O'Rourke to par the 17th and 18th for victory
