Murcar Links won the 100th City of Aberdeen men's double foursomes for the Maitland Shield at Kings Links last night. They pulverised Portlethen by a combined 10 holes in the final with some superlative golf.
It was Murcar's sixth capture of the prestigious trophy since the turn of the century, having won it in the year 2000, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and now 2016.
Portlethen, who KO'd the defending champions Newmachar in the first round week,  will have to wait until 2017 now as they bid to win the Maitland Shield for the first time.
Both Murcar pairs gave sub-par performances.
Adrian Styles and Bryan Innes were four  under par in beating Portlethen's Kevin Daglish and Clark Brechin by five holes.
And the Murcar Links' second string of Anthony Bews and Ronnie Brechin were five under par in beating Keith Horne and Gary Esson, also by five holes.
Styles and Innes were three under par and three up at the turn.
Bews and Innes were four up at the turn with two-under-par figures.
