Lothians overpower Stirlingshire in singles after 2-2 in foursomes
The Lothians men's team opened their season's account with a strong performance in a friendly match at Longniddry on Saturday, defeating Stirlingshire 7.5 to 4.5.
The morning foursomes were shared 2-2 but an excellent performance in the afternoon singles from the Lothians team, in particular S McLaren (Bruntsfield Links) (beat M Hislop (Glenbervie) 6 and 5) and Benn McLeod (Musselburgh) (bt S Irvine (Falkirk) 9 and 7) saw the home side run out winners by 3pt.
