DEESIDE TO RE-OPEN AS A 10-hole
COURSE BY BEGINNING OF APRIL
By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Frank
Coutts, Deeside Golf Club's director of golf, is hopeful that the
course will re-open for play at the end of this month or the beginning
of April.
Flooding
from the River Dee covered the Haughton course in a layer of silt
which, although cleared in the main after a lot of hard work by the
greenkeeping staff, has affected the course's drainage capabilities.
"The
plan is to re-open as a 10-hole course with a view to bringing back
into play three or four more holes after a month or two," said Frank.
" Hopefully, by the end of June, we should have the 18-hole course back in play."
HAZLEHEAD NUMBER ONE COURSE TO RE-OPEN NEXT MONTH
The Hazlehead municipal No 1 18-hole course, Aberdeen, closed this winter for drainage work, will re-open next month.
