WILL PORTER FINDS FORM LATE IN

 SOUTH AFRICA

Will Porter from Carnoustie, last year's Scottish U18 match-play champion, found the form that won him that national title over the last nine holes of his second round in the Southern Cape Open amateur golf tournament at Mossel Bay Golf Club, South Africa today (Friday).
Porter, pictured, who had a two-over-par 74 in the first round, struggled over the first nine of his second circuit, taking 41 blows (five bogeys, four pars), but then it call came together and he covered the inward half in one-under-par 35 with a birdie 2 at the short 12th and eight par figures.
Porter's 150 tally has him in joint 59th place - 13 strokes behind the South African joint leaders, Jason Smith (71-66) and Alex Van Wyk (69-68), on 137.
Leading the English challenge are Alfie Plant (71-73) and Nic Elliot (71-73), joint 21st on 144.
Carnoustie's second representative in the field, Jamie Connolly had a No Return after an 81 in the first round.
