Barry Hume just outside top 20 with
a first-round 73 in South America
Barry Hume (Haggs Castle) returned a one-over-par 73 in the first round of the South American men's amateur championship, supported by the R and A, at Lima, Peru.
Hume ended the first day T21 in a field of 71 players.
Fellow Scot Ryan Campbell had a 75 to be T33.
David Boote (Wales) shot a 68 to be sharing second place with Colin Fairweather (Ireland) and two South American players, Andres Arango and Juan Alvarez.
Leading the men's field in the 72-hole tournamnet is Argentina's Matias Simaski with a five-under 67.
England's James Allan had a 71 to be T11.
Compatriot Marco Penge, the Scottish open amateur stroke play champion, had a disappointing 77 to be T48.
