Westhill GC pro George Bruce presents
defibrillator to club at end of Testimonial Year
By COLIN FARQUHARSON
The
testimonial year of Aberdeenshire's Westhill Golf Club professional
George Bruce reached a climax at the annual prizegiving night (Sat, Nov
28) when George presented a debfibrillator to club captain Doug Gold.
Said Morvan Sherrett of the Testimonial Organising Committee:
"It
was
always intended that part of the proceeds raised from the events marking
George Bruce's long service to the club and its members during
the season would go to a charity of George's choice.
"Following the Bernard
Gallacher incident, when he collapsed at a function in Aberdeen, George felt it would be appropriate to donate a
defibrillator to the club. It was sourced through the lucky2BHere
charity (www.Lucky2BHere.org) who also provide free training for all club staff."
Club
Captain Doug Gold said "It was a typically generous gesture from George
to want to give something back to the club, and the defibrillator will
be something that hopefully won't have to be used, but will be available
for the benefit of all".
