RENFREWSHIRE GOLFERS REWARDED

FOR THEIR SEASON’S EFFORTS

RENFREWSHIRE GOLF UNION PRESS RELEASE
The performances of three Renfrewshire golfers during the season have been recognized with two of them being selected to represent Great Britain and Ireland in the Concession Cup in Florida next April and one being named as Boy Golfer of the Year by Renfrewshire Golf Union.

Matthew Clark has been selected as one of the mid amateurs and Ronnie Clark as a senior member of the eighteen man squad.  Both selections were based on their respective Order of Merit rankings and they are looking forward to some early sunshine next year.

Bridge of Weir’s Jamie Stewart was unanimously named as Boy Golfer of the Year as he has had a magnificent season.
In addition to winning the Scottish Junior Champion of Champions and representing Scotland at international level, his winning performance at Arbroath in the Scottish under 16 Championship was probably the highlight.  His scores of 65, 66, 69 and 65 added up to the lowest aggregate recorded in the Championship in its 32 year history.  Jamie, pictured, works hard on his game and had to be persuaded to leave a dark golf course to receive his trophies.  He had been unable to attend the annual prize giving because of Scottish Golf commitments.

Congratulations to all three and best wishes to Matt and Ronnie for Florida next year.
