Knox is dog tired but in contention again

Champions, Knox is again on the leaderboard at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba. He stated Wednesday that his expectations were low entering the weekend as he continued to fight off jet lag, and an opening-round 70 put him closer to the cut line than the leaders.
But subsequent scores of 65-65 have Knox at 13 under, tied for third and within three shots of Derek Fathauer.
“I struggled on Thursday a little bit just feeling – I don’t know what I felt, really. It was like I struggled to really get into it, get focusing,” Knox said. 
“But I got through the round, and yesterday I felt much more normal. Today I felt a little nervous again which was nice, because when I got up near the lead which I hadn’t in the last couple days.”
Knox is the only player to tee it up in each of the first five weeks of this new wraparound season, an itinerary that has taken him to four different countries and spanned more than 22,000 miles in the air. While many casual fans may not have known the 30-year-old’s name before last week’s event in China, Knox believes that a hot stretch of results has always lurked just below the surface.
“I’ve been playing like this for a long time, I just haven’t holed putts,” he said. “So I’m not surprised that I’m playing well, but I guess at the same time I am because I know I’m tired.”
