Sunningdale's Tony Patterson leads Scottish Seniors at Nairn Dunbar
By GORDON THOMSON
Tony Patterson (Sunningdale) was the
first-round leader at the Scottish Seniors Golfing Society's Autumn Meeting at Nairn Dunbar today with
a fine 71.
The farthest travelled player in the field put together a fine one
under par total to hold a one shot lead going in to tomorrow’s final round.
Nick Robson (Meldrum House), who has
been in fine form lately, is one stroke behind on 72 along with Lindsay Gordon
(Turnhouse), with David Logie (Craigie Hill) one shot further back.
Last year's winner of the event, Ronnie Clark (Erskine), leader of the seniors' Order of
Merit race, is among a group of five players on 74 and will be aiming for
one of
his trademark strong finishes.
An exciting finish is in
prospect with the strong chasing pack keen to improve their Order of
Merit
rankings ahead of next week’s final event.
Nairn Dunbar presented a demanding test for the high quality field with a
CSS of 74 for the par 72 course.
