It's Tough at the top! Jane, Gary and Sarah's 

 

      remarkable success story in 2015

 

Husband and wife team, Gary and Jane Tough, from Edzell have notched up a remarkable golfing success story in 2015. 

Gary (48) and Jane (42) have both won their 10^th club championship titles at Edzell Golf Club.  Gary won his first 30 years ago in 1985, whereas Jane got off the mark nine years later in 1994, the only time she won using her maiden name, Jane Baird.  The couple married in 1995, which clearly inspired Gary to win his fifth championship in the same year. 

Over the period, 2015 marked only the third time that the couple had won their championships in the same year, although the passage of years is marked by the fact that Gary and Jane’s daughter, Sarah (11) also this season won the Edzell Westwater course junior girls’ title.   

Potentially just a matter of time then, before mother and daughter are competing against each other in the Ladies event!

In the meantime, Jane has achieved another milestone, becoming the first member to win the women's championship four years in a row.  

 Jane recently took over as Managing Secretary at Edzell Golf Club, so clearly it’s becoming a home away from home!
