Carrick Neill Scottish open amateur stroke-play at Lossie

Ferguson well placed for third 72-hole win of season ... but it could all end in a play-off

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
The Carrick Neill Scottish men's open amateur stroke play championship over Moray Golf Club's Lossiemouth links promises a battle royal over Sunday's final 36 holes with only four strokes spanning the top 20 or so at the halfway stage.
Short odds on the 72-hole event spilling over into extra holes, i.e. a sudden death play-off.
Sharing the pole position on four-under 138 are Welshman Owen Edwards (69-69), Englishman Marco Penge (69-69), Irishman Cormac Sharvin (69-69) and Scotland's Ewen Ferguson (69-69).
Bearsden GC member Ferguson has already won two 72-hole events this season - the Scottish champion of champions at Leven and the Craigmillar Park Open in Edinburgh.
This could be win No 3 for the former British and Scottish boys champion.
A total of 56 players on 146 and better qualified for Sunday's play.
