Oldcorn wins on points at Senior pros' Stableford

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Former PGA championship winner Andrew Oldcorn won the £275 first prize in the PGA in Scotland's Senior pros' Stableford competition at Murcar Links today (Thu)

Oldcorn,  pictured, playing out of Kings Acre Golf Centre, Edinburgh, totalled 39pt, the equivalent of a three-under-par round.

Birdies are worth 3pt each under the Stableford scoring system and Oldcorn scored 3pt at the first, fifth, eighth, ninth, 10th, 12th and 16th. He could even afford to score no points at all at the 11th and still have 1pt to spare at the finish.
Kenny Hutton (Downfield) and Lee Vannet (Craibstone) finished joint second with 38pt apiece, earning £125 apiece.

Former British boys champion and past European Tour player Vannet, pictured left on first tee at Murcar Links, three-putted the last and added only one point to his total. A par 4 would have tied him with Oldcorn.
Former Ryder Cup player Ronan Rafferty (Monte Rei) finished fourth with 37pt, having the best inward haul of 21pt.
