TOP SCOT FERGUSON FINISHES 7th IN SOUTH AFRICA

First-round leader Ewen Ferguson eventually finished seventh after his worst round of the four, a three-over-par 75 for a six-under-par aggregate of 282 in the South African men's amateur stroke-play championship at Port Elizabeth Golf Club, writes Colin Farquharson.
The Bearsden player finished nine shots behind the winner by three, Ugo Coussaud, the first Frenchman ever to win the prestigious title. The 22-year-old shot a closing 68 - seven better than Ferguson - for a 15-under total of 273. 
Gavin Moynihan, winner of the Scottish open amateur stroke-play title at Panmure last summer, tied for fifth on 280 with Irish compatriot Gavin Hurley.
Kirkhill's Craig Ross made the top 10 with a closing round of 71 for 283.
Connor Syme (Drumoig) signed off with a three-under 69 for a share of 17th place on 285.
Daniel Young (Craigie Hill) finished joint 26th on 287 after a final round of 71.
Scott Gibson (Southerness) closed with a 70 for joint 39th place on 291.
Ben Kinsley (St Andrews) finished joint 58th on 295 after a last-round 72
