The odds are that one of the 32 professionals rather than an amateur in the field of 106 will win the 54-hole Scottish Alliance championship over the East and West courses at Marriott Dalmahoy Hotel over the next three days (Wednesday-Thursday-Friday)
It follows that the three biggest names in the field - Challenge Tour player and Northern Open champion David Law (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre), Andrew Oldcorn (King's Acre) and Lloyd Saltman (Archerfield Links) - will be among the front runners for the four-figure first prize in a competition being run by Edinburgh and East of Scotland Alliance secretary Alan Greenshields.
