FIELD OF 114 SPLIT BETWEEN EAST AND WEST DALMAHOY COURSES

HENDERSON, BUCKLEY SET PACE IN

SCOTTISH ALLIANCE CHAMPIONSHIP

Neil Henderson (Renaissance) with a 71 on the more difficult, par-73 East Course and Ryan Buckley (Royal Musselburgh), who shot a four-under 64 over the shorter West Course, were the front runners at the end of the first round of the 54-hole Scottish Golfers Alliance Championship being contested by a field of 114 at Marriott Dalmahoy, Edinburgh today (Wednesday)
Buckley's effort was a very good one, considering he lost a ball off his very first tee shot!
The fields will switch courses for the second round.
Henderson had a one-stroke lead at the East Course from Andrew Oldcorn (Kings Acre), Mark Kerr (Marriott Dalmahoy) and Craig Gordon (Edinburgh Golf Centre).
At the West Course, Buckley's closest rivals were Stuart Birrell (Leven Thistle) and former PGA Cup player Craig Matheson (Falkirk Tryst).
First pro prize is £1,000 with £650 going to the runner-up and £400 to the third highest finisher.
The leading amateur will win a £500 voucher for the lowest three-round aggregate
