SAM PLAYS IT AGAIN - PIPS YOUNG

LAWRIE IN PLF JUNIOR OPEN

It was a case of deja vu at the Paul Lawrie Foundation Junior Open at Deeside today (Sunday).
Last year Sam Locke (Banchory) beat Michael Lawrie (Deeside) on a countback for first scratch prize.
And the same thing happened again today.
Sam, stepson of Paul's swing coach, Andrew Locke, and Michael, Paul's younger son, both shot one-over-par 71s. Sam had halves 36-35 and Michael 35-36 - so Locke triumphs again on the better inward half.
Sam had birdies at the ninth and 12th as well as a double bogey 6 at the 11th and a bogey at the fourth.
Michael had birdies at the fifth, sixth and 17th but bogeys at te seventh, 11th, 15th and 18th. That last late bogey made the difference between winning and losing for young Lawrie.
Brad Murray, who plays off six at Fraserburgh, had the best net score of 69.

And a big hand for Paul Lawrie himself for hot-footing it after the final round of the Wales Open at Celtic Manor back to Aberdeen in time for the picture at the top of the page, taken by PLF manager Michael MacDougall who organised Sunday's tournaments with Marian Lawrie.
