BIRDIES ON HIS WAY TO A 66
Edzell's Alastair Webster produced a stunning second round of seven-under-par 66 over the Marriott Dalmahoy East Course, Edinburgh to win the title and the £800 first prize in the Scotland senior professionals' stroke-play championship today (Wednesday)
Webster had started the day two behind overnight leader Fraser Mann but had caught the Carnoustie player with his first two birdies at the second and the fourth while Mann bogeyed the third.
Mann came on to his game with birdies at the fifth, ninth, 10th and 11th but let it slip again with bogeys at the 13th and 18th for a 72 and a total of 136.
Webster's birdie hunt was relentless. After his early gains he birdied the seventh, ninth, 10th, 12th and 14th, bogeyed the 16th, but finished with a birdie at the 18th for a 66 and a nine-under-par aggregate of 132.
Mann finished third behind runner-up Stephen Craig (Craig Golf) who had five birdies on the outward half - the first, second, fourth, sixth and ninth but, allowed Webster to go clear when he bogeyed the 14th and 15th.
