THOMPSETT'S FIFTH WIN IN AMERICA

Former North-east boys' champion Daniel Thompsett from Aboyne  has notched his fifth win on the United States men's college golf circuit.

Thompsett, now into his fourth and final year as a student at Rocky Mountain College, Montana, beat Cam Howe (Westminster College, Utah) at the second hole of a play-off after they had tied on three-over-par 213 at the end of the 54-hole Montana Tech Invitational at Butte Country Club, Montana.

Daniel had rounds of 70, 73 and 70.

Thompsett is coached by Andrew Locke at the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre during his breaks from college in America.
