NOW PLAYS AUSTRALIAN IN ST ANDREWS BOYS OPEN SEMI-FINAL

CAMERON WINS ST ANDREWS BATTLE 

OF FRANSSEN BROS FROM INVERNESS

Cameron Franssen from Inverness beat his brother Rory 3 and 2 in the scratch quarter-finals of the St Andrews Boys' Open tournament over the Old Course today (Wednesday).

Cameron now plays Zach Murray, one of two Australians in the semi-finals.

Murray beat Glen Burrett (Haggs Castle) 2 and 1.

The second Aussie, Ben Ferguson beat Callum Cochrane (Marriott Dalmahoy) and now plays Zack Bedford (St Andrews New), a 2 and 1 winner of Jack Rogan (Longniddry).

Kieran Mackay (Inverness), playing off three,  is through to the semi-finals of the handicap secon. He beat Jasper Schuermann (Germany) by one hole and now plays four-handicapper George Petrie (Luffenham Heath).

The other semi-final over the Old Course will be between Craig Tibbets (Uphall) (4) and Jack Coslett-Green (Houghwood) (5).

In the St Andrews Junior Ladies Open for Under-23s, Claire Robertson (Carnoustie Ladies), the only Scot in the last eight, was beaten 2 and 1 by Samantha Taylor (Tynemouth) who will play Martha Lewis (St George's Hill) over the Old Course for a place in the final.

The other semi-final features Julie Nordin (Norway) and Lianna Bailey (Kirby Muxloe).

Nicola Robertson (Stirling) (4) will play Jasmin Pnaiser (Handsworth) (12) in the final over the girls' handicap section.
