Grangemouth's Lindsay Blair overhauled first-round leader Malcolm Reid (Sonning) with a 73 for 149 - one better than the Anglo-Scot - to head the 32 qualifiers for the Scottish senior men's match-play golf championship at Southerness Golf Club on the Solway Firth today (Tuesday).
Blair, picture by courtesy of Steve Ellis, is top seed but the favourite for the title might well be local man Ian Brotherston (Dumfries and County) who was third best qualifier with a 75 for 152.
Title-holder Jim Watt from Edzell made it through on 156 (80-76)
The cut-off mark for the match-play qualiifers was 164 but not all of those with that aggregate went forward to the draw. Gordon Thomson's 79 was the worst second round of the five on 164 and that eliminated him.
David A Millar (St Andrews New) led the eight qualifiers for the Super Seniors' match-play championship for over-65 years players. It is contested under handicap.
