The HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour returns to the east coast of Scotland this week for its second event of the season, the Eagle Orchid Scottish Masters at Montrose Links.

The tournament represents the second time the Tour has visited the historic Angus course, having made a successful debut there in September last year.
Oliver Farr took the £10,000 winners’ cheque on that occasion and went on to top the Order of Merit at the end of the season, securing his Challenge Tour card in the process.

Among the field for the 54-hole event, which begins tomorrow (Tuesday, April 29) and concludes on Thursday, is former British Amateur champion Gary Wolstenholme, brothers Elliot and Zack Saltman, from Archerfield Links, East Lothian, and winner of the season-opening Matchroom Championship at the Belfry, William Harrold.

The tournament boasts a £40,000 prize fund and the previous two winners of the Eagle Orchid Scottish Masters – Welsh pair Farr and Stuart Manley (at Rowallan Castle in 2012) – have both graduated to the Challenge Tour in the season of their success at the event.

Spectator entry is free throughout the week, and the tournament will be filmed for a two-hour highlights show to be broadcast on Sky Sports HD on May 13.

Neil Armour, Chief Executive Officer of Eagle Orchid said: “It is fantastic to be able to bring the Eagle Orchid Scottish Masters to Montrose again this year.

“I was very impressed by the course, the organisation and the warm welcome offered during the event last September, and the level of golf played was exceptional.

“To see Stuart Manley playing on the European Tour this season is testament to the importance of development golf, and Oliver Farr proved our second successful winner when he gained his Challenge Tour card last season. I look forward to seeing who emerges victorious this time around.”
