HEATHER MACRAE HAS FIVE BIRDIES IN A 73

CHRIS KELLY LYING SIXTH IN SPAIN

Chris Kelly shot a par 71 and his girlfriend Heather MacRae a 73 in the first round of the Spanish Evolve Tour 36-hole event, the El Valle Open, at El Valle Golf Club, Murcia today.
The Cawder tour pro had an eventual round with double bogey 6s at the eighth and 13th, birdies at the 11th and short 12th, capped by an eagle 2 at the par-4 14th to be joint sixth in a field of 73 at the halfway stage.
Kelly is two shots beind the trio sharing the lead on 69 - William Harrold (England), Florian Fritsch (Germany) and Wales' Bradley Dredge.
Heather MacRae's round was also a bit of a roller-coaster. She had five birdies - at the fifth, seventh, eighth, 10th and 12th, offset by a double bogey 6 at the first and bogeys at the third, ninth, 14th, 15th and 17th.
The Gleneagles staff pro is joint 14th.
The third Scot in the field, Paul McGhee is joint 38th on 79.
