OWEN TAKES REED PLACE IN THIS WEEK'S US PGA TOUR EVENT
Humana Challenge winner Patrick Reed has withdrawn from this week’s Farmers Insurance Open, citing displaced ribs.
Reed showed few ill effects en route to a record-breaking start last week at PGA West, La Quinta, California. He wasn’t quite as sharp Sunday, carding a 71 to win by only two shots.
Reed had planned to play every event on the West Coast swing, but clearly he'll need to be more selective now.
His Humana victory ensured him a spot in next month’s WGC-Match Play.
Reed has been replaced in the field at Torrey Pines by Englishman Greg Owen.
