NORTH-EAST ALLIANCE WINTER ROUNDS HELP DAVID LAW TEE OFF IN TURKEY WITH A FOUR-UNDER-PAR 65

David Law has kept his form ticking over on the North-east Alliance during the winter so that helped him to make a flying start on the German PGA Tour's Sueno Dunes Classic at Belek in southern Turkey's shores today.

In March, Law will be making his debut on the Challenge Tour but until then he will be following the German-organised Pro Golf Tour (formerly the EPD Tour) through Turkey and Morocco in the build-up to the Kenya Open.
The 2011 Northern Open champion from Aberdeen shot a four-under-par 65 to be joint second, a shot off the lead, at the end of the first round of the 54-hole event.
Law, starting at the 10th, birdied the long 12th, 15th and 16th, the third and the fourth before his only bogey of the round at the fifth in halves of 32 and 33.
Portugal's Tiago Cruz is the leader on 64 and Germany's Moritz Lampert is on the same mark as the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre player.
Anglo-Scot Brad Hannah from Workington is joint 25th on 69, a shot ahead of Conor O'Neil (Pollok) who deviated from par only three times with one birdie and two bogeys.
Law's team-mates Philip McLean from Peterhead, Fraserburgh's Jordan Findlay and Kris Nicol, and debutant Craig Lawrie did not do so well.
McLean had a triple bogey 8 at the 13th in a three-over 72 the same score as Findlay, double bogey 6s at the 11th and 15th and Nicol, five bogeys and two birdies.
Lawrie, playing as a pro for the first time outwith the North-east Alliance circuit, played well below his potential with a 10-over 79. He had a double bogey 6 at his first hole, the 10th, and a triple bogey 6 at the short 16th contributed to 43 shots for his opening nine.
His only birdie came at the third.
