GLENBERVIE MAN WINS JOHN GLEN TROPHY AT EDINBURGH AND EAST ALLIANCE MEETING

EDINBURGH AND EAST OF SCOTLAND ALLIANCE
REPORT FROM ALAN GREENSHIELDS

A record number so far this season of 106 players headed to East Lothian to contest the John Glen Trophy competition over Gullane No.3 course which has a par of 68.
Daylight hours were stretched to the limit to get the full field round the course but thanks to kind weather this was achieved and the event was very closely contested.
Three players shared the top scratch score at one-under-par 67 and three players tied with the lowest net score of 64.

Jonathan Tune (Glenbervie), with a better inward half in his net 64 (71 less seven) is now the holder of the John Glen Trophy.
He pipped Martin Rennie (Uphall) (68 less four) and Alan MacKay (Kingsknowe) (67 less three). Jonathan achieved a superior inward nine with his one-under-par 33 to give a net 29.5 compared with Martin's net 32 and Alan's net 33.5.

Alan MacKay also featured in the best scratch score of the day with his 67. He  was joined on this mark by East Alliance stalwarts Neil Colquhoun (Merchants) and Gordon Law (Uphall).

Top trainee professional on the day was Ross Munro (Duddingston) with a score of 70.

Senior Prizes were also closely contested with three players sharing a net score of 68 - Stephen Gilhooley (Duddingston) 75 less seven, David McKean (Cardrona) 74 less six and Colin Rae (Pumpherston) 77 less nine.
Had the senior prizes been awarded on back nine scores David McKean would have been favourite, have three birdie 2s on the way home.

The Order of Merits see the leaders retain their pole position in but places 2, 3 and 4 of each see their places exchanged:
