JOHN HENRY DAY AT CLYDEBANK AND DISTRICT SOLD OUT BUT COME ALONG AND SEE WHAT'S GOING ON

FROM JOHN HENRY
My golf day is this bank holiday Monday at Clydebank and District Golf Club, which I played today and it is in fantastic condition.
They are offering 16 months' membership for the price of 12 months with cash benefits of referring new members.
My day is now sold out but I would like to wish anyone who is interested to see what's going on during the day to come along. The first tee time is 830am and last tee time 3pm.
Prizegiving, auction and raffle will be around 730pm.
Massive thanks to everyone who has put in a team, sponsored a hole or helped out with the running of the day.
I am 17th reserve for the next event on the Alps Tour so I doubt I will get into that, meaning I will need to go back to the qualifying in December The Alps Tour is great and has been a really good learning curve this year. I think my game has came on a lot and next year I will be ready to challenge for a top 5 order of merit place and gain my challenge tour card!
My next event will be the Scottish Alliance championship at Nairn Dunbar and Fortrose and Rosemarkie where I am going to try and defend my title.
Really looking forward to playing as I've heard they are great courses!

FRANCIS, BERGER L;EAD USA SUCCESS AT FIRST STAGE OF Q SCHOOL

REPORT FROM EUROPEAN TOUR COMMUNICATIONS
Philip Francis and Daniel Berger spear-headed a story of American success at The European Tour Qualifying School First Stage Section C as they won their respective qualifiers at Circolo Golf Bogogno and Ribagolfe.
Las Vegas native Francis, who won four consecutive Junior World Golf Championships between 1999-2002, carded a final round 67 to finish on 17 under par and record a two shot win in the Italian venue of Bogogno, where 24 others made it through to the next stage.
Of those, there were six more Americans, a Brazilian, two Chileans, an El Salvadorian and a Canadian as well as players from all over Europe, emphasising the growing global appeal of The European Tour and Challenge Tour.
Among the Europeans was Italian Domenico Geminiani, a highly regarded 17 year old who has already built up significant experience on the Challenge Tour including a top ten finish last year, and 21 year old Adrian Saddier of France, fresh from a top five finish in the recent Open Blue Green Côtes d'Armor Bretagne on the Challenge Tour.
Meanwhile, at Ribagolfe, where there were long delays, former Florida State player Berger was one of seven Americans to make the grade as he finished four shots clear at the top on ten under par after a final round 69.
Ireland’s Kevin Phelan, who played at this year’s Walker Cup after impressing by making the cut as an amateur in The 2013 US Open Championship at Merion Golf Club, made it to Second Stage on the cut line in Portugal thanks to a final round 73 which left him on four over par.

RORY MCILROY SETS UP OWN MANAGEMENT COMPANY

FROM THE DAILY TELEGRAPH WEBSITE
By JAMES CORRIGAN
Rory McIlroy finally confirmed on Friday that he is going on his own after setting up Rory McIlroy Incorporated. His father, Gerry, will take an important role in the management company.

However, Horizon, the agency which McIlroy announced he has left, is still seeking compensation from the two-time major champion for quitting his five-year contract after two years.
McIlroy’s second split with a management company since October 2011 has been golf’s worst kept secret. For months, both the golfer and Horizon refused to comment officially on the story which emerged in April, citing legal reasons.
But having signed up with PR firm the Communications Clinic, McIlroy has decided to go public, issuing a statement on his website, declaring that the details of the termination with Horizon are with his legal team.
“The golfer’s business interests will from now on be managed by Rory McIlroy Incorporated. CEO of RMI will be Donal Casey,” read the statement.
“The Rory Foundation for charity will be run by Barry Funston, a business leader and long-time friend of the McIlroy family.
"Both men will serve on the RMI Board, together with Gerry McIlroy.”
Casey worked for Horizon until last December and was seen as integral in negotiating McIlroy’s £78million switch to Nike.
One aspect of the new backroom did raise eyebrows. Terry Prone, who runs the Communications Clinic, is regarded as Ireland’s leading media commentator who often appears on TV.
Prone’s company has overseen the PR for some of the country’s best-known politicians and her appointment is an obvious reaction by
McIlroy to some of the negative headlines he has generated this year.
He attracted criticism for his mid-round withdrawal at the Honda Classic in February and for then initially saying he was “in a bad place mentally” before, via a statement, claiming he was suffering from dental pain.
The manner in which that affair was handled was thought to be one reason for the division with Horizon, although it is understood there is a variety of business factors.
It has not been an amicable split and has affected McIlroy’s relationship with Graeme McDowell, the former US Open champion, who Horizon represent.
The Dublin agency released its own statement, saying: “Horizon Sports Management notes, with disappointment, the statement issued by Rory McIlroy today. Horizon has achieved exceptional results for Rory in realising his commercial objectives.
"The current management contract has a number of years to run. Rory’s decision to seek a termination of the management contract with Horizon is now regrettably in the hands of legal advisers.”

TOM LEWIS LEADS BY ONE AT HALFWAY IN DUNHILL LINKS CHAMPIONSHIP

REPORT FROM EUROPEAN TOUR COMMUNICATIONS
Tom Lewis’ love affair with links golf continued after a seven under 65 at the Old Course gave the Englishman a one shot lead at the halfway stage of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on a day when American Peter Uihlein came within inches of posting the first 59 in European Tour history.
Uihlein looked on course to become the first player to record golf’s magic number on The European Tour, but his 25 foot eagle putt on his last hole at Kingsbarns stayed above ground.
His 12 under par 60, though, saw him charge up the leaderboard and into a six-man tie for third spot, two strokes behind Lewis and one adrift of Dutchman Joost Luiten, who posted a fine 63 at Kingsbarns.
“It was cool to have that chance,” said Uihlein. “It was a good day.  Me and my caddie, Sam, we were talking about it, and my second shot, we were like, you know, let's try not even and try and not think about it.  I knew I had to make eagle and gave it a go, hit a good putt.
“I actually thought it would come back to the right at the end but kept going left.  All in all it was a good day and I am very pleased.  It was just one of those good days and everything just seemed to go in for me.”
As Uihlein was signing his scorecard, Lewis was putting the finishing touches on his 65 at the Old Course. The 22 year old, currently in 155th place in The Race to Dubai and in need of a big finish in the next four weeks to break into the top 110 retain his playing rights on The European Tour, is never more at home on golf course than when he sets foot on links land.
Winner of the Silver Medal at the 2011 Open Championship, Lewis also won the prestigious St Andrews Links Trophy as an amateur that same year.
“Seven under is a great score,” said Lewis. “I played well today and didn't ever really get under too much pressure.  I drove it well, and I was aggressive, as well.
“Links golf is always going to suit me because of my flat ball flight and I just feel at home when I step on to a links course.
“I think I've got a great chance.  If I can just be patient tomorrow and be as aggressive as I have been, and if I can shoot in the red, get anywhere in the 60s, I'll be in a good position to go into Sunday on a course that really suits me.”
The English quartet of Tommy Fleetwood (66 at Carnoustie), Richard McEvoy (67 at Carnoustie), Mark Foster (66 at St Andrews) at Oliver Wilson (67 at St Andrews) and South African Hennie Otto (63 at St Andrews) joined Uilehin on 13 under, while some of the field’s superstar names moved into contention heading into the weekend.
Ernie Els, playing alongside Uihlein, posted a second round 65 to move to ten under, while Darren Clarke and Martin Kaymer produced pair of 66s at Kingsbarns to move to nine under.

NEWS RELEASE
Billy Hemstock won the Clipper Logistics Championship at Moor Allerton Golf Club on Friday, beating Daniel Gavins in a play-off to win the 888poker.com PGA EuroPro Tour event.
The pair finished tied on 12 under par after 54 holes but it was agony for Gavins (De Vere Oulton Hall) who shot a course-record equalling 64 (-7) on the final day, only to lose by play-off for the second event running.
However, the Yorkshire man has guaranteed himself a 2014 Challenge Tour card, with a victory at Dale Hill coupled with his two second-placed finishes ensuring Gavins a place in the 888poker.com PGA EuroPro Tour Order of Merit top five.
When the pair finished tied for the lead on -12, they replayed the 18th as a sudden-death play-off. However, Gavins’ tee shot strayed into the trees lining the right-hand side of the green and  though he recovered for par, Hemstock (Teignmouth GC) got to the green in two and made four on the par-five closing hole to win the £10,000 winner’s cheque and a brand new Motocaddy trolley.
Hemstock shot an unblemished 66 in the final round but has been struggling for form in recent weeks. He failed to make it beyond the first stage of European Tour Q School and had missed the cut at his previous two EuroPro Tour events.
“It has been a tough few weeks,” he admitted. “I have been struggling with my form but I came here with no expectations and it has been a fantastic week.
“I played a lot, 13 out of 15 weeks, and travelling all over the place. I got a little bit stale towards the end and that makes you take a look at what you’re doing and reset the dial a little for the end of the season and I did that well.
“I felt I was doing a lot of things well, but I just wasn’t getting the results. I stayed patient and you have to check through what you’re doing and make sure it is the right things. Backing myself in those situations really helped this week.”
Marcus Armitage (Howley Hall GC) and 36-hole leader Ryan O’Neill (Penwortham Golf Club) tied for third with scores of nine under, with Ruaidhri McGee (Rosapenna), Greg Payne (Chobham Golf Club) and Order of Merit leader George Woolgar (Capitalservices) sharing fifth on seven under par.
Only the top 60 on the current Order of Merit have been invited to play the 888poker.com Tour Championships at Prince’s next month. Janne Kaske, who finishes the season 61st, misses out by just £57.25.
Highlights of the Clipper Logistics Championship will be broadcast at 8pm on Sky Sports 3 on Tuesday, October 8, repeated four times on Wednesday, October 9.

MOROCCO FREE TRIP FOR PAUL LAWRIE LADIES TOUR ORDER OF MERIT WINNER IS BIG INCENTIVE OVER LAST FOUR EVENTS

By COLIN FARQUHARSON

Colin@scottishgolfview.com
A free trip to Morocco for the Ladies European Tour Qualifying School is up for grabs on the Paul Lawrie Scottish Ladies Open Tour over the last four events - and it could go right down to the final event of the inaugural season, the 36-hole Tour Championship at Marriott Dalmahoy on Thursday-Friday, October 10-11.
The professional winner of the PLGC SLOT Order of Merit will win the cost of return flights from Aberdeen to Morocco and hotel accommodation while over there.
The Paul Lawrie Golf Centre is putting up this fabulous prize for the first pro past the post in the Order of Merit in which there are four events to go.
With double Merit points being awarded at the Tour Championship, i.e. 2,000pt to the winner, 1,500pt to the second and 1,400 to the third, and so on, things could change dramatically at the top of the table, even on the very last day of the Order of Merit competition.

Carnoustie's Katy McNicoll (5615), pictured right leads at the moment from Heather Stirling (5299) and Pamela Feggans (4477).
The amateur who finishes highest up the Order of Merit table will win a self-catering holiday at Gleneagles Village up to the Rules of Amateur Status maximum value of £500.
Carnoustie's Jess Meek, now a student at the University of Missouri, is the leading amateur in the table in ninth place with 3585pt
The next highest places amateurs in the Order of Merit are Gabrielle Macdonald (1830pt), Nichola Ferguson (1460), Jess Wilcox (1430) and Scottish champion Alyson McKechin (1355).
There is certainly an incentive for them to play in the last four events on the Paul Lawrie 2013 Tour Schedule.
