STEWART HENDERSON WINS THIRD LANARKSHIRE CHAMPIONSHIP

Stewart Henderson of Hamilton won his third County Championship today at Bellshill Golf Club. Forty seven years old Stewart has won many tournaments over the years in Lanarkshire and continues to flourish. 

Despite not playing well in his second round his great short game kept him in it and a 71 gave him a 144 total and a two shot victory over local favourite Craig Longmuir who scored 74, 72 for 146. 

First-round leader Dominic Dougan of Airdrie with 68 in the morning, including a holed bunker shot at the last, fell away to an 80 in the second round.

Declan Dooey won the Youth Championship with 148 on the best second round.

The leading eight available players will start the Matchplay tomorrow at Bellshill at 5pm.
