DAVID ORR SWOOPS TO CONQUER WITH A 64 AT PORTLETHEN

David Orr, the second last pro to finish, swept past clubhouse leaders Graham Fox and Greg Hutcheon to win the top prize of £950 in the Portlethen Golf Club pro-am today.
The Mearns Castle Golf Academy teaching pro shot an eight-under-par 64 to notch his second win of the season - Pollok on June 3 was the other - and his score was the lowest at the venue near Aberdeen since Jim Irvine set the pro course record of 62 in 2006.
Orr had bogey-free halves of 32, highlighted by birdies at the long second, long fourth, short fifth, sixth, 11th, short 12th, long 13th and long 18th.
Christopher Currie (Caldwell) led the Maersk Training amateur trio of Duncan Bonnar (handicap 7), Clark Milton (18) and Chris Gray (5) to victory in the team event with a net score of 17-under-par 55.
