ANGLO-SCOT REID WINS SCOTTISH SENIORS' EVENT AT MONTROSE
Anglo-Scot Malcolm Reid, a member at Sonning Golf Club, Reading, won the Scottish Seniors Golfing Society spring meeting over 36 holes at the Montrose Links on Thursday-Friday.
Reid, who is 54 years of age and has a handicap of +1, shot gross scores of 78 and 75 for a total of 153.
That was good scoring over two days of inclement weather which pushed the CSS up to 75 (reduction only) both rounds. The Montrose Links par is 71.
Local man Gavin Hemsley (Montrose Mercantile) and Glyn Rees (Fleetwood, Lancashire) tied for second place on 154. Hemsley scored 80-74, Rees 79-75.
Rees and David Nelson (aboyne) shared first place in the handicap returns, both with net 150 aggregates. Rees, who plays off two, had net scores of 77 and 73; seven-handicapper Nelson had net scores of 76-74.
David J Smith (Stirling), playing off four, finished third in the handicap section with a net total of 151 (78-73).
