McLEARY AND CAMPBELL WIN EAST ALLIANCE GREENSOMES TROPHY

The northerly breeze certainly delivered a few red cheeks at Winterfield this week but I think most were happy to get out to play without any rain or snow.

It was a healthy turn-out of 49 partnerships competing for the Richardson and Brownlee Greensomes Trophy. Victors on the day were Jamie McLeary (Dalmahoy) and guest Colin Campbell (Dundas Parks) with a solid net 63.6 (68 less 4.4).

Second place went to the Uphall pairing of Ron Comber and John McDermott with a 64.2 (76 less 11.8)

Andrew Millar and Peter Millar of Musselburgh finished third with 65.6 (73 less 7.4)

Neil Fenwick (Dunbar) and Archie Mason (Musselburgh) came fourth with 66.4 (72 less 5.6)

Chris Gamble and David J Russell of Archerfield finished fifth with 67.0 (69 less 2)

Clear winners of the top scratch prize were Keir McNicoll and Robert Jack of Gullane with a level par 65

Joint second Scratch, four shots behind on 69, were

Ian Taylor (Royal Burgess) and Alan O'Neill (West Lothian),  Eric Walker and Don West of Burntisland

Third scratch on 70 was shared by two Duddingston partnerships, Iain Stavert and Stuart Smith, and Alastair McLean and Keith Millar.

We now have a break of two weeks with the next outing taking place at The Glen, North Berwick on February 20.
