TOM WATSON TO PLAY IN AUSSIE OPEN
Tom Watson is to play in the Australian Open for the first time in nearly 30 years.
Tournament officials said today that Watson, who won the Australian Open in 1984, will join Australians Adam Scott, Geoff Ogilvy and Greg Chalmers at The Lakes Golf Club in Sydney from December 6-9.
Scott won the Australian Open in 2009, and Chalmers is the defending champion.
Watson's win at Royal Melbourne in 1984 came a year after he won the last of his eight majors, the 1983 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. He joined the Champions Tour in 1999, and has 14 wins on the senior tour.
