DUNCAN STEWART SETS MORPETH PACE
Duncan Stewart knows what it's like to win the standard £10,000 first prize on the PGA EuroPro Tour and he's got the scent of another jackpot in this week's Sweetsport Classic at Longhirst Hall Golf Club, Morpeth in Northumberland. The Grantown on Spey man shot a four-under-par 66 to take the first-round lead with six birdies and a double bogey 6 at the 17th which might just come back to haunt him. Stewart leads by one from Welshman Nick James and Englishman James Ruth. Next best Scot is John Gallagher (Turnhouse) in joint 11th place on 71, a shot ahead of Shaun McAllister (Craigielaw).
