ANGLO-SCOT WINS NORTH SENIOR TITLE

Anglo-Scot Malcolm Reid from Sonning Golf Club, Reading in Berkshire made the long trip to the North-east worthwhile when he won the North of Scotland senior open amateur championship at Cruden Bay.
Malcolm, a 53-year-old scratch player, had a pair of 76s for a total of 12-over-par 152 and a two-shot win from 56-year-old one-handicapper Brian Smith (Kilmacolm) (75-79).
Another Kilmacolm player, 62-year-old Colin Christy, secured third place with 76 and 77 for 155.
The weather was so bad that the CSS was 74 for both rounds - four over par - and there was a record number of withdrawals for a Scottish Seniors Golfing Society competition between the first and second rounds.
Only 28 of the starting field completed 36 holes.
