BETTY COMES HOME IN 30 AT CRIEFF TO HEAD SPGA QUALIFIERS

Hamilton's Paul Betty, with a four-under-par 67, headed the 14 qualifiers for the Gleneagles Scottish PGA championship later this month from a field of 53 at today's (Tuesday) second qualifying competition at Crieff Golf Club.
Betty came home in four-under-par 30 with birdies at the 14th, 15th, short 17th and 18th to finish a shot ahead of Scott McGrenaghan (Cochrane Castle) who birdied the last three holes for his 68.
Six players on the 73 mark played off for the last three qualifying places. Paul Wilson (Cawder) and Craig Gordon (Edinburgh Golf Centre) birdied the second extra hole to advance while Ian Anderson (Colville Park) completed the qualifiers with a par at the third hole.
Nathan Keast (Renaissance Club), Andrew Fullen (Largs) and Martin Shaw (unatt) were eliminated in the play-off.
