KRIS NICOL ONLY ONE OVER PAR BUT JOINT 74th IN SPAIN
Kris Nicol from Fraserburgh, the only Scot in the field, shot a one-over-par 71 in the first round of the Peugeot Alps de Barcelona tournament at Golf Sant Cugat, Spain today.
He is joint 74th going into the second round.
The late Seve Ballesteros's son Javier, a 21-year-old amateur who is still a university student in Madrid, shot a fine round of five-under-par 65 to be joint fifth behind the leader, Spaniard Ivo Giner who had a bogey-free, eight-under-par round of 62 to lead by one from England Walker Cup player Jack Senior from Heysham, Lancashire.
