NOW MAITLAND SHIELD WINNERS BON ACCORD TAKE JOURNAL CUP

Bon Accord followed up their recent Maitland Shield foursomes triumph by winning the Journal Cup at Kintore at the weekend.
Clark Brechin (Portlethen) retained the Jaffrey Cup, contest by the lowest four scorers in the Journal Cup 36-hole stroke-play competition.
Barrie Edmond (140), Matt Greig (144) and Neil Mitchell (148) totalled 432 to win the Journal Cup by four shots from Fraserburgh with Deeside (435) third.
Brechin beat Gordon Grimmer (Nigg Bay) by 5 and 3 in the semi-finals of the Jaffrey Cup and then had a one-hole victory over Laurie Phillips (Cruden Bay) in the final. Phillips had beaten Barrie Emond (Bon Accord) 3 and 2 in the other semi-final.
