LAW LEADS THE SCOTS AT HALFWAY IN WELSH OPEN STROKE-PLAY

Hazlehead's former Scottish boys' and men's champion David Law is leading the "Tartan Army" at the halfway stage of the Welsh men's open amateur stroke-play championship at St Pierre Golf Club, Chepstow.
David, pictured right, has scored 73 and 75 for a four-over-par 148 which is pretty good scoring in far from pleasant weather. The Aberdonian is sharing 13th place, one shot ahead of compatriots Philip McLean (Peterhe4ad) (76-73) and James Ross (Royal Burgess) (74-75).
Leading the field are local man Richard Bentham and Walker Cup team place contender Darren Wright (Rowlands Castle) on 143.
