The Bombay Medal / Silver Medal: second lowest scratch score

The Kangaroo’s Paw: lowest net handicap score

Play began over the Old Course at 7 o’clock sharp this morning, under the watchful eye of local member Arthur Morris, the volunteer First Tee Marshal for the opening two hours of play.
A number of Members who had kindly volunteered to marshal deployed early onto the course to help encourage as good a pace of play as possible. First to tee off in the Medal were club committee member Tim MacDowel (Home Club: RandA), playing with his son Ben (New Zealand) and fellow competitor Andrew Lawson (Sunningdale).
Conditions for the early starters were overcast and calm, but distinctly chilly. By 11 o’clock the sun broke through the clouds, and the remainder of the day was bright and sunny with a freshening easterly breeze.
The 48th and final game of the day teed off on schedule at 2.50 p.m., and holed out on the 18th Green at just past 7 pm
The best net score of the day was a 69 (86 less 17) was returned by Cupar GP, Dr Gerald Burnett (Crail Golfing Society).
The lowest gross score was 75, returned by Michael Wilson (Kilmacolm), who has a handicap of four.
