Dear and McAlpine only Scots to
-
survive Alps Tour cut

FROM THE ALPS TOUR WEBSITE
Mother Nature was the winner at the second day of the Slovenia Open. Rain and wind invited themselves at Ptuj Open and these diabolic partners made the field give in.
The score of the lead increased to five under par and now a group of three players are sharing the lead - Frenchman Matthieu Bey and Spaniard Jorge Garcia Fernandez managed to stay there and another Iberian player, Carlos Balmaseda, joined them.
Carlos is very well known for gaudy clothes and very noticeable shoes. He shot 69 today and succeed in not dropping more than two shots.
Compare to yesterday when many eagles were achieved at the 18th, the last hole was today a scene of lots of double bogeys.
Despite the awful weather, three players signed for the best score of the day, a 68. No surprise to find an Irish player in this group : Richard Kilpatrick. Also there were Switzerland's Jann Schmid and Austrian amateur Manuel Trappel.
In these conditions, the cut is quite high: +6.
The best Slovenian player is professional Matjaz Gojcic. Amateur Aljaz Brumen made the cut as well.

SCOTSWATCH: Only two Scots, the consistent Gavin Dear and Kevin McAlpine beat the cut (148 was the limit 36-hole aggregate). Dear is lying joint 13th after rounds of 71 and 72 for 146 - six off the pace. McAlpine qualified but went backwards on the leaderboard after following a promising opening round of 70 with a 76 for 146.
The Saltman brothers, Zack and Elliot, both missed the cut by three shots. Zack slumped from 73 to an 81, while Elliot went the other way, returning a 71, which was nine shots better than his first-day score.
Steven Hume was another Scot who missed the cut by a few. He had scores of 78 and 81 for 159.
