Saltman outclassed by Danish amateur but

wins top cash prize of 1,650 Euros in Spain

Lloyd Saltman finished nine shots behind a Danish amateur Lasse Sonne Nielsen but won the top cash prize of 1650 Euros in this week's 54-hole Hi5 Spanish Tour event at the newly-opened Condado de Alhama golf course in south-east Spain.
Nielsen spreadeagled the field with a brilliant first round of 11-under-par 61 and followed that up with 71 and 70 for a 14-under-par total of 202. His prize was a Thomas Sabo watch.
Saltman scored 71, 68 and 72 for 211 finished three shots ahead of two players in joint third place, Englishman Ben Welch and Dutchman Tim Sluiter.
Zack Saltman, the youngest of the three Lothians golfing brothers, was well down the field on 224 with scores of 70, 78 and 76. On 226 was Shaun McAllister with 74, 77 and 75 for 226.
A Scotland international from yesteryear, David James, reappeared out of the blue to win the seniors' section and a first prize of 1,000 Euros and a Thomas Sabo watch by seven shots with a total of 207. James, like Nielsen, started with a brilliant first round - in his case a 63 - and a couple of par 72s after that were good enough to consolidate his victory from Englishman Kevin Dickens.
In the ladies division Sweden´s Elin Emanualsson eased her way to a 10 shot victory with another solid performance on the Nicklaus signature course ahead of Josefin Leijon also of Sweden. The ladies were using the Hi5 Pro Tour to prepare for the upcoming European Ladies Qualifying School at La Manga next week and also the week after.
