North-east name their team for Scottish area

championship semi-final against Renfrewshire

North-east are the first of the four semi-finalists to name their line-up for the Scottish area team championship ties over the Craighead course at Crail Golfing Society, Fife on Saturday, October 3.
The North-east team to play Renfrewshire is:

BRYAN INNES (Murcar Links). Former Scotland international. Semi-finalist in this year's Allied Surveyors Scottish amateur championship at Royal Troon. Semi-finlist in one of the last British mid-amateur championships ever played, at Muirfield.
ANTHONY BEWS (Murcar Links). Works behind the counter in Gary Forbes' pros' shop at Murcar Links but it's just his job rather than the next step before becoming an assistant pro. Had a +3 handicap earlier in the season.
DAVID LAW (Hazlehead). What a year David's had. Won the Scottish boys' match-play championship at Royal Aberdeen in April and the Allied Surveyors Scottish men's amateur championship at Royal Troon at the end of July. Gained full cap for Scotland in the home internationals.
KRIS NICOL (Fraserburgh). Fraserburgh Golf Club greenkeeper who won the North of Scotland open amateur stroke-play title last year and beat Philip McLean in a play-off for the North-east District Open title at Peterhead.
MARK HALLIDAY (Royal Aberdeen). Former quarter-finalist in British amateur championship.
PHILIP McLEAN (Peterhead). Philip and David Law are the only full-time amateurs in the team. McLean won the Standard Life Leven Gold Medal over 72 holes this summer.

+If officials of the three other semi-finalist teams in the Scottish area championship would like to have their team published, all they have to do is E-mail the info to Colin@scottishgolfview.com If they can supply a few words about each player, as above, so much the better!
