E-mail from Andy MacDonald

Subject: Franco's thread (scroll down to read E-mails by Franco Hennigan and others)

Hi Colin,

I get the feeling that anyone who asks questions in relation to the use of the "Club members' levy" by the SGU, £1.3 million in 2008, is almost guilty of the golfing equivalent of treason!
A bit like MPs' expenses or Cash for Honours perhaps?
Questions have always been aired but never in public!
Now whether we agree or not with Franco's observations, we should agree he has the right to raise them!
We live in a time of openness and transparency, good governance should be at the heart of the SGU operations. The financial support given to talented individuals should be clearly visible to all of the golfing community.
We all support development of the game in Scotland. A breakdown of all the costs incurred by the SGU for each elite player should be published, travel, accommodation, meals, entry fees, clothing, equipment, coaching, support etc.
The club members can then assess if this is indeed proportionate or whether a chosen few are being overly-funded from the ordinary punters' pot?
