Michael Sim wins Nationwide Tour play-off

... one more win and he's in Big League!

Aberdeen-born Australian Michael Sim beat Argentine's Fabian Gomez at the first hole of a sudden-death play-off to win the Nationwide Tour's BMW Charity Pro-am over 72 holes at Thornblade Club, South Carolina today.

Sim, the third round leader, finished with a 69 for 22-under-par 264 but was caught by Gomez who produced a 66 to force a play-off.

Sim won the shoot-out with a par at the first extra hole, the 18th, to earn the $126,000 first prize.

He was already the leading money-winner on America's No 2 pro circuit, having already won one event and been beaten in a play-off for another.
Under the rules of the Nationwide Tour, any player who wins three times in one season gains automatic and immediate promotion to the US PGA Tour.
Sim averaged 292.4yd with his drives in this latest tournament; hit 73.6 % of the greens in regulation figures and averaged 1.528 putts per green.
