Loch Ness make winning start to Moray Firth League

Loch Ness Golf Club beat Strathpeffer Spa GC 4-2 on a very blustery Loch Ness Golf Course in the sides' inaugural match in the new Moray Firth League.
Both sides acquitted themselves well in the testing conditions with all games played in friendly and sporting manner. Home advantage was always going to be important and LNGC's top three players all took the points to guarantee them at least a draw.
Strathpeffer fought back, however, with convincing wins in games 4 and 5 but Neil Hampton beat Strathpeffer club captain Kevin Manson in the final game to secure the win for Loch Ness. Assessing the match overall it was Michael Henderson's win over Matthew Sloggie in game 2 that was pivotal with the win only secured on the last green.
All players commented well on the format of the event and looked forward to their next matches against the other competing clubs."
