Ayrshire name team to start title defence

Team manager Ronnie Potts has announced the Ayrshire team for their first match in the defence of the Scottish Area Team Championship, which takes place against Stirlingshire at Falkirk Tryst on Sunday, May 17.
Three members of the team who secured the title for Ayrshire at Tain in 2008 return to open the defence of the title.
John Shanks (Irvine), George Robertson (Irvine Ravenspark) and Tommy McInally (Loudoun) will be joined by 2007 Ayrshire match-play champion Stephen Murray (Troon Welbeck), as well as the new Ayrshire match-play champion Scott Brown (Turnberry) and former Ayrshire boys championship winner Jamie Mackay (Kilmarnock Barassie).
After the May 17 match, further qualifying section matches against the North-east and Borders will take place in August and September.
