Finlayson keeps his head as Patrick

and McGhee falter on inward half

Edzell's Mark Finlayson headed the field today with a par round of 72 in the Linksland Series event at Kingsbarns Links, Fife.
Mark had a roller-coaster round with birdies at the first, fifth, 11th, 12th and 13th but bogeys at the second, 10th, 14th, 15th and 17th in halves of 35 (one under par) and 37 (one over par).
He had a shot to spare from David Patrick (Elie) and James McGhee (Turnhouse), both of whom could have/should have won it but for costly lapses on the inward journey.
Patrick birdied the third, sixth, 12th and 15th but bogeyed the second and 11th and then had a horrendous triple-bogey 6 at the short 13th in halves of 35 and 38
McGhee was chuntering along niceely with no bogeys to mar four birdies in the first eight holes - the first, fifth, seventh and eighth - as he reached the turn in four-under-par 32.
Then it all went pear-shaped for the Turnhouse men. He had a double bogey 7 at the long 12th, a bogey 4 at the short 13th and then another double bogey 7 at the long 16th for 41 blows to come home.
