PGA EuroPro Tour Final Qualifying School

Shaun McAllister joint

third after opening 70

Former Scottish boys' stroke-play champion Shaun McAllister (Craigielaw), playing as an amateur, is well up on the leaderboard at the end of the first round of the PGA EuroPro Tour Final Qualifying School over the Frilford Heath Red Course in Oxfordshire.
Shaun, pictured right by Cal Carson Golf Agency, returned a one-under-par 71 to be lying in joint third place after "catching fire" on the inward half of his round.
He was two over par at the turn with bogeys at the fourth and sixth but then Shaun birdied the 10th, 14th, 15th and 16th. What a pity he bogeyed the 18th for 33 home.
Mark Wilkinson (West Malin) leads the first-day returns with a four-under-par 67.
