Lloyd Saltman wins play-off to
make it six Scots at
Final Qualifying School

Former Walker Cup player Lloyd Saltman came through a seven-man Stage 2 play-off at Sherry Golf this morning to claim the last qualifying spot in this coming week's European Tour School Final Qualifying tournament over six rounds at PGA de Catalunya near Gerona in the North-east of Spain.
The play-off at Sherry Golf had to be held over from Saturday to 9am Sunday morning because a long bad-weather delay earlier on Saturday meant there was no time to squeeze it in before darkness fell on Saturday evening.
Saltman, pictured above by Cal Carson Golf Agency, responded to the extended overnight hours of pressure to win the play-off and keep alive his hopes of making it to the European Tour 2009 (which has already begun).
Only the leading 30 will win full playing rights at PGA de Catalunya.
Saltman's success in the play-off means there are six Scots in the field - Scottish amateur champions of different years: Callum Macaulay and Graham Gordon, former Scottish amateur stroke-play champion and past Scottish boys' title-winner, Scott Henry (Cardross), Tartan Tour No 1 Chris Doak and Craig Lee from Stirling.
